And the New Year has arrived…

There’s a disturbing trend at the moment – hundreds of dead birds and fish in the USA and across the world. I am, to say the least, worried that this is the physical reaping of the whirlwind, so to speak.  Climate change is upon us and the natural world is suffering.  I wonder if the so-called 2012 “end of the world” scenario has more to do with climate change than anything else.

A grim first post of 2011 but never-the-less one I wish had concrete answers and solutions.  At the moment the science community seems confounded, except to suggest climate alterations that have upset the equilibrium of the fish, and possible stress of firework displays killing the birds.  Its the 21st century and we are still struggling to find answers.

On the upside, one lady I know is doing something to make the world a better place. Becca Gibson, a friend and fellow Gillespian (see previous posts, we are both fans of Blue Gillespie), is determined to do a charity walk in May this year. I wish her every success. If you want to donate and support her, she is on facebook and has set up a just-giving page –

If you feel like reading about what she’s going to do and who she will be donating to, follow the link and perform a random act of kindness.  I think it’s an awesome act and one I have a great deal of respect for.  I wish her all the luck in the world so spread the word.
